It used to creep in from the east. We used to have easterly gales
with day maxs on the E coast of ms 04 (even in Devon once in the early
90's). Even with the almost 'perfect' set up, easterlies from Russia, its
only wet snow.

I'm not sure that the source of the air has actually been as far away as
Russia.
