Default Snowfall statistics - February 2005

February had the highest number of days with 'snow falling' ( 10 ) in
this area since February 1986 which had 17 days. It beat January 1997
- 8days - and February 1991 which had 9.

Sorting out the Epping stats for February I was surprised to find that the
13 days with snow falling is the highest for that month since records began
in 1979. Particularly when considering that both the depth and persistence
of the snow cover were quite unremarkable. Feb 1986 had 12 days with snow
falling, Feb 1991 11 but much greater depths and persistence of cover.

All the best

And it is the depth and the persistence of cover that people remember
most. So many people I've spoken to are really disappointed with this
cold spell. The "days with snow falling" stat may be impressive but this
cold spell is not a patch on 1987 or 1991 in my book.
