I had my own skate blades by then, attached to my cricket boots (the best use for cricket boots I could possibly think of -- indeed the only sensible use for ...). No more skating on ponds or canals: the town council allowed us to skate on the big lake in the Arboretum! Haven't skated much since though :-((( Nor have I asked my mum & dad what their fuel bill was like that winter. Mike |
