![]() "Snow fatigued" - I'd never thought I'd hear that any time soon! But, yes, all this snow is starting to get a bit boring (although quite a few of my friends keep pestering my for more!). No stamina, the youth of today. You should have tried living through 1962-3. ![]() -- My memory of the 62/63 winter was that after the initial falls of snow it was dry a lot of the time but with a persistent NE to E wind off the continent and temperatures remained close to freezing during the day. It had a devastaing effect on bird populations which took a number of years to recover. Alan |

writes "John Hall" wrote in message news ![]() I'm surprised to see no comments on the Severe Weather warning issued today: http://www.meto.gov.uk/weather/europe/uk/warnings.html John, I saw it up on the Met O web site earlier - but considered the fact that it was snowing this morning over quite of the UK with only the usual reportees on the ng - decided we were all getting a bit snow fatigued - so didnt mention it! I didnt even mention the moderate snow (for a while) here at Guildford - or the fact that it has snowed here for 9 consecutive days - something back at the beginning of January we would have considered pretty unlikely these days. In Godalming, the commuting couple three doors up reported that it snowed every morning last week. Don't think we had any today[1/3]. Smidges Sat/Sun. Certainly did on evening of Monday 28/2. Car battery hibernated. John mentions warning for Wednesday when I'm meant to be at the Compasses in Alfold that evening. We shall see. -- Peter Thomas |
