Default [WR] Near-blizzard, blowing snow - Canterbury

Jonathan Stott wrote:

Strong winds and very heavy snow (big flakes) reducing visibility down
to around 50-100m. Snow blowing along the railway tracks. About 2cm of
accumulation in five minutes.

Still no sign of the showers dieing out - they are still piling in off
the sea. Last shower lasted 30 minutes, caused the temperature to drop
to 0.2°C at 1345Z. Left a fresh deposit of 2cm of snow including 1cm on
many vertical surfaces (fences, walls, etc.). Visibility was reduced to
abou 20-30m at one point. Wind is now whipping it up. Although the snow
has been melting between showers, we still have the same amount (if not
more) than we had at 0900Z with about 6cm on grass.

Still plenty of snow around here too. Kids sledging all day and near
blizzard conditions coming in of the sea. Very strong wind and waves
crashing over the sea walls. A real winters day
