Hi fellow snow fans.

This is an invite to join the action this winter on
www.theweatheroutlook.com

Many of the more reputable organisations are forecasting a cold winter
including Brian Gaze of the Weatheroutlook. So this could be an exciting
time to join!

Neil does not need to apply (NGUK!)

I'm sure there's something wrong with this sentence. I can't quite put my
finger on it, though...

This posting expresses the personal view and opinions of the author.
Something which everyone on this planet should be able to do.
================================================== ==================

Brian Gaze's winter forecast is sadly going wrong already when he predicted a
settled first half of December.

" December
Often quiet and dry conditions are expected to persist through much of the
first half of the month with temperatures remaining close to the average for
most of the time. The second half of the month is likely to bring a notable
change to more unsettled conditions at first, but then a significant outbreak of
wintry weather bringing widespread and sharp frosts, and also a significant risk
of snow for many areas, although the north and east of the UK look to be at the
highest risk. We think the cold snap is most likely to occur shortly before
Christmas. For the month as a whole temperatures are expected to be about 0.5C
above the Central England Temperature (CET) average. Precipitation levels are
likely to be generally below average. "

All models are now going for a quick return to zonality and
generally mild and wet and potential stormy conditions.

The *most* reputable forecasting organization in this country (ie the Met
Office) is predicting another mild winter overall.

I'm a great snow fan and a member of the TWO forum, but I just get tired and
bored with the seemingly endless "snow and cold weather love-ins", usually at
T+168 or greater range. I prefer nowadays to wait and see what happens and when
it does snow to actually go outside and enjoy it ! It seems rather pointless to
me to wish one's life away waiting for that elusive severe winter. But there you
go, that's just me.

Will.

I agree Will, the only time I believe any snow forecast is at T+0 and I can
see it in the sky, falling onto the ground. And then I hate it with a
passion...

For me waiting for a good snow event is a bit like watching the England
football team playing in the World Cup or European Championships.
To start of with the head rules. Don't be silly it says we all know England
won't win/ there won't be any severe weather.
Then a few charts pop up/ England play a good game. Hmmm the brain thinks.
Stay calm
Another few charts pop up/England's draw looks good. Heart starts to take
charge. Maybe this time. Head butts in. Calm down it screams. Now it's T+48.
The charts are great/ England are in the quarter finals. This is is. This is
what we've been waiting for. Yipppeeee!!!
Result is England get beaten on penalties/zonal weather crops up at T+24!!

Hi Matty - I love the enthusiasm of posters in that forum and I make the
odd (in both senses:-)) contribution, but web based forums are just too
slow for me. Additionally, I make enough typos here *with* a spell
checker, so goodness knows what my words would look like without such an
aid. Cue Colin:-)

I can only smile at those sentences. Will sums up my feelings about such
forecasts. When, next week, there is a 130kn jet heading our way, with
possibly vicious lows over or near us, I see next week as being far from
the calm start to December I see mentioned elsewhe-)

Well I think he got the first day right! It does seem a bit harsh Will, to
say that before December 1st is over! Give it another couple of days ;-)
