Snow ramping, not by me though
 

So Andrew Bond is actually controlling our weather?
Does that mean we can sue him for damages if we do get snow and ice and have
an accident? After all it was all his fault!

What i always say, if people start getting excited about what weather
model+2 or 3 weeks show then
i predict it'll end in tears most of the time

I realise what we have right now is boring to some people, just that i
think some people do not keep their feet on terra firma

I must admit I am very disallusioned as far as snow in this country is
concerned. Nothing in the models has given me any confidence that we
will get any this year once again. Winter now consists of a frost down
here in southeast and if it sleets it's a siberian winter. I've nearly
lost hope.

But you are in coastal South East England.
From what I understand of the British climate, lowland Southern England
*never* got reliable snowfall in winter, though the odd severe easterly
blizzard always occurred when the conditions were right.
Today of course the chances of this 'perfect storm' seem to be receding
ever more year on year but I don't think there was ever a 'golden age' of
British snowfall. Well not in the last 100 years at least.......

Trouble is, 1963 was just so good down in these parts. When you're 13 and
you jump into a drift that covers your head you tend to remember it!

I was 11 in 1963 and in Manchester we had hardly any snow, being well sheltered
from the east. My best snow memory was in Dec 1981 driving back home through 30
cm of snow on the M4 around Heathrow after doing a night shift at London Weather
Centre! And of course the very brief Haytor blizzard of March 11th 2003 :-)

Well, we had sleet one day in November this year in my part of Surrey.
If we can have sleet in November, then clearly snow in January is still
quite possible. So don't give up hope.
