A considerable amount of thunder and quite a lot of lightning has
suddenly appeared due south of me here close to Dorchester. A very
bizarre situation- not a lot on the radar. Very heavy rain just
started. Thunder every 20 seconds or so....

Several rumbles of thunder in the last 5 minutes here at
Warlingham, NE Surrey. (0135Z). Some c-c lightning, distance 2 miles
to S (10 sec). No rain yet. E'ly increased to Force 4.

A very brief downpour at 0150Z. Everything now quiet. The speed
of movement of these upper-level storms can be quite amazing.

Probably what I saw from here later looking at radar.
Woke about 1.20 Am to see non-stop flickering in the sky to my west (I
am in south wales nr porthcawl)

No thunder heard. My guess is storm was about 30 miles to my west.
Somone from Swansea area should have been under it !

Similar report to others here in Luton. Frequent, almost continuous
CC lightning, 3 or 4 cells visible at any one time, three CG strokes
from the first cell just after 0200z, single strokes, very bright,
producing very loud low-frequency thunder (i.e. bone-rattling).
A couple of brief bursts of mod-heavy rain, all over by 0300z.
As others have said, best display for a long time.
