Default No bleedin winds again

Will Hand wrote:

Edmund how long did they have to do that broadcast, it sounds

fantastic ?

About 10 minutes IIRC.

They have 4 nano-seconds here to do the whole of the UK :-(
5 minutes is then devoted to dancing men prancing around on the

screen followed
by trailers for the latest celebrity love-in show.

I also wonder if the BBC bought the full package or whether it was a

cut price
jobbie ?
I mean it was only a million quid after all.

There's another thread about it on here, from someone in NZ I think,
which discusses that.

No mention whatsoever of any wind. No graphics, no words, nothing.

How on earth can anyone take a decision on our behalf that the wind is
not
important ?
Mr BBC *WIND IS IMPORTANT* believe me.
They have wind on ITV, I'm told they have wind on SKY so what makes
the BBC
special ?

They had wind on BBC1 Wales this evening but just the graphics and, as I
think you have said elsewhere, those moving paper darts don't really
give an idea of the speed of the wind. Even if they put the wind on the
national forecast, how much value would it be? A blank screen may be
better.

You must ahve seen the 2230 one as well. I thought the colour was a
representation of the temperature. I couldn't work out what could be
the speed. Can't be size of each paper dart as they have to vary
because of the stupid 3D projection. May be it is the colour then?

What ever it shows these new graphics have failed as people can't
instinctively understand them.

Not overly impressed it wibbled on for ages about showers and the
narrative mentioned thunderstorms but there where no animated lighting
strikes anywhere to be seen. So is the *whole* country due for
thundery showers in the next 24hrs or just the odd part or a particlar
area?

There have pressure maps on ITV too.
Isobars, wind arrows (speed *and* direction) and those weather
front thingies as well.

Has it really come to pass that the ITV forecast is now better than the BBC?
