The latest UKMO FSXX chart for noon tomorrow suggests south to south west
winds of force 6 and perhaps 7. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack0.html The 6.30 BBC 1 forecast showed the new arrows and the word strong was used, but there was absolutely no mention of expected speeds. Is wind considered such an unimportant element now, whereas a temp in London of 21C got a specific mention? :-( -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 24/05/2005 18:38:58 UTC |

I suspect that it is dawning on the BBC Weather Centre that someone has made a mistake here; fortunately, they've got the (relatively) quiet summer to sort it out, but come the autumn/winter storm period, a much better representation of the wind field, with indication of strength, must be available.
