Is this the level of intellect the BBC forecasts have reached! I've all
but given up with them now, especially as they are oblivious to what
anyone tells them. Must be run by Shergar and Red Rum, complete with
blinkers.

I think Carol should be congratulated for making the meterorolgical
distinction between "shower" and "rain". That was exactly the opposite
of the "dumbing down" that we all complain about so much. She'll
probably be telling us next that there will be "precipitation from
either cumuloform clouds or stratiform clouds - whichever it is, you'll
get wet"

I just got wet while in the garden. It was definitely a shower. It
wasn't rain because it stopped after a very short while.

I got wet in the shower this morning. I haven't been outside because
it's been raining all day, and I didn't want to get wet. It's a funny

I got wet in the shower this morning. I haven't been outside because it's
been raining all day, and I didn't want to get wet. It's a funny old
world.

I've always thought it a bit odd that the Tourist Board were always on about
providing 'wet weather facilities' - which usually involved the opportunity
to get much wetter than just being rained - sorry I mean showered - on for a
few minutes.

I happened to catch the BBC Newsround weather forecast yesterday. They
had little shower head symbols - much better than the grown-up forecast
that doesn't differentiate.
