Heavy rain overnight (max. rate 46 mm/h) died out this morning. Thick fog at
0730. A few sunny intervals but more rain has set in this afternoon with a
strong and gusty SW wind.

Rainfall to 1700 this afternoon - 17.3 mm

June total now 34.2 mm (36% of monthly average of 95mm), so we are below normal.
But soil is now wet right through and everything is still growing well. Hope we
get some more dry, warm and settled weather soon (actually I know we will :-) ).

What a gorgeous summer so far in Devon and with sea temperatures 0.5 deg C above
normal it's looking good for the main holiday season.

Come to sunny Devon and pop up to Dartmoor and see the ponies (lots around this

I had thought that detailed isobar weather charts on TV were a thing of the
past until I saw David Braine's forecast. He crams a lot of detail into his
forecasts and are well worth a watch.

For entertainment and enthusiasm, you'd also fing it hard to beat Paul
Hudson on Look North.

Hudson on Look North.

Have to admit tonights was a good forecast. Isobars AND fronts, describing
why it was going to be so warm over weekend, even going so far as to say
where the very warm air was coming from. Plus he mentioned how at one point
he thought the forecast model was overdoing something.

David, you can see the other regional ones on SKY, can't remember what
number channel though!

What? A chart of the UK not covering Yorkshire, who are these people? What
will we northern folk do in Devon, then Will? Where are they in the cricket
league, do they have good fish and chips, plenty of whippet and greyhound
tracks, rugby league, resorts like Scarborough, night life like Newcastle?
;0)

The best forecast around here is by Bob Johnson on Tyne Tees, ex Met O, NE
Centre RMet Soc member, knows his isobars.

I meant it doesn't cover the Yorkshire area Rob!
Must admit that I do have a look occassionally at other regions. A very
useful facility.
