French Storms (UK later)

Currently a very active area of mostly high based thunderstorms over
western France. Gust of 31KT reported at Gognac. Sferics
http://217.160.75.104/wz/pics/Rsfloc.gif

Looking ahead more TS activity is likely over the south of the UK on
Tuesday and Wednesday as the upper vortex to the west of Spain moves NE
and engages the 20+C theta-w/+564DAM 500/1000 TT plume over western
France. Finalised T+60 http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack1a.gif

Nor have I. The 12Z EC ensembles are similarly 'spikey' but not to the
extreme of the GFS.

18Z GFS 3 hour totals to 18Z Tuesday http://64.246.48.81/pics/Rmgfs483.gif

Clearly the potential is there for some very high totals with forecast
profiles indicating tops to 40000ft again, probably more with overshoots.
