Remember the Bartlett high and the technique of using pins to "burst"
it? Any way of dealing with lows in an analagous way? An air-pump, perhaps? :-) Nick |

No low intensification techniques please! Perhaps a shallow low running up the Channel, giving heavy rain in southern counties, but the E/NE winds to the north giving pleasant and sunny conditions up here would keep everybody happy? Actually I've noticed that in general. At all times of year, the worst
weather is *always* associated with a high over Greenland. By contrast the worst the Bartlett high does is an unexciting but harmless mild, dry January day. Nick |

Col -- Bolton, Lancashire. 160m asl. http://www.reddwarfer.btinternet.co.uk http://www.reddwarfer.btinternet.co....rPictures.html The entire North Atlantic setup though seems unusual for this time of the year with what appears to be the development of a Greenland/Iceland block like that, especially with the GFS/UKMO models taking it to at least 120/144hrs (acknowledging the model inaccuracies out to that length of time). A quick check of the: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten/fsreaeur.html does not show anything quite like it for the notably bad July's in the UK such as 1993/1988/1974 though. Even the 528 dam line is showing just on the Northern edge of this chart: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack3a.gif for next Monday. Interesting times. -- Pete Please take my dog out twice to e-mail --------------------------------------------------------------- The views expressed above are entirely those of the writer and do not represent the views, policy or understanding of any other person or official body. --------------------------------------------------------------- |
