Something along those lines. Take a peek at

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/weather...st/index.shtml

I normally run with a minimum font size so I don't have to strain
reading 6pt high characters. My normal setting puts the dot denoting
Berwick (a and East coast town) right in the middle of the country...

If I turn off the minimum font size, the dot marking the place moves
to the other end of the name but it's still not on the coast place and
Edinburgh appears to be in the Firth of Forth.

What ever it is broken and always has been. I told 'em about Berwick
not long after the launch. The site devlopers have obviously taken the
money and run...

Yes, same here, and I use an Apple Mac with Safari browser. On the
default font, the positions are perfect but increasing the font size by
about 4 points moves Stornaway to the east coast of Scotland and
Penzance to just south of Bournemouth, but Leeds remains in the same
place, which is rather worrying, but then Yorkshire people were always
a rather stubborn lot ;-))

I've just looked at the BBC Weather site. On the maps of the UK
showing various weather elements only 3 cities out of the 12 shown are
in the right place. These are Cardiff, Leeds and Newcastle.
Southampton has moved to Yeovil, Birmingham to Shrewsbury, Fishguard
and Stornoway to the Atlantic and so on.

Your font size is probably set smaller than the default - in Firefox I
can get Southampton to move anywhere from Barnstaple and France by
changing it!

LOL!

Just tried doing that, I can send Birmingham all over the place, and
Norwich off the map.
Clicking "Decrease" 3 times I get the result Tudor originally
mentioned.

Just heard on the BBC:

"Latest on the tornado. The damage is estimated to have run into
midlands."

How very true.
