Default Warm frontal cloud sequence?

Anyone got an idea why today (and other similar days) a typical *warm*
frontal cloud sequence of Cirrus, cirrostratus, altostratus occurs?
What happens after that tends to be variable, sometimes you get storms,
sometimes it just clears...

Nick
