The old September record of 24.1บC has just been exceeded here minutes ago.
It truely is a strange heat outside this morning.
80บf is probably on the cards here this afternoon.
Quite exceptional!
Alex.

Currently 22.2ฐC here, Alex, with an RH of 82%. Quite a lot of AcCast
floating about to the SW which could make for another interesting
evening.

And 21.4C here, RH 51%. One of the warmest days of the year; we didn't
even reach 20C for the whole of August.

24.2C here.
Earlier on today I remarked that I thought it would be unlikely that
my September temperature record of 25.5C would be broken.
At this rate I should easily surpass this.

Looks like there might be something not quite right with your RH sensor,
Alan. A temperature of 22.2 with a RH of 82% gives a dew-point of about
19C which is way too high. The airmass dew-point looks to be around
14-15C. I've thought for a while that your RH values looked on the high
side.

Could this be a local effect? The grass is still damp with morning dew
and we are close to the shore.

Does that mean mine is correspondingly too low at the moment? I'm
currently showing 21.6C and RH 50%, DP 10C.

Seems a bit unlikely. The 1200z observation from Bishopton gives a
dew-point of 15.2C. The latest I have from Greenock MRSC (0900z) had a
dew-point of 14.2C. I would expect your dew-point to be in the same
ball-park as those.

A temperature of 22.2C with a dew-point of 15.0C gives a RH of 64%.

That looks OK Steve. There appears to be some slightly drier air over
the Southern Uplands at present. At 1200z Eskdalemuir reported a
temperature of 23.0C with a dew-point of 11.5C. This gives a RH of 48%.

Hmm, sadly I have no means of checking. It does seem to register 100%
very readily but then I would expect that here :-)

I don't know the conditions at Bishopton or Greenock. The ground here
is still very wet from the rain on Wednesday evening and I've
commented in other posts that conditions in this part of the world can
vary markedly within a few miles. Perhaps just treat my humidity
readings as suspect.
