Despite the sunshine, the temperature has struggled and only reached a
maximum of 18.0C today at 13:30, making it the coldest day since the 26th of
August. The temperature is already on the down (at 15:15), paving the way
for a chilly night to come.

What a contrast to yesterday's warm and muggy weather.

Currently at 15:20, 16.3C, RH 53%, DP 7.2C, 1021.1 mb (R), Wind N 11.0 mph,
Rain Last 24 hrs 1.5 mm.

18C? Positively tropical but you must be pretty sheltered down there
with this wind direction. Just 13.7C here today, not terribly cold of
course for the time of year but given it's been pretty sunny, certainly
an autumnal feel to things.
And the min of 3.7C this morning hardly helped things!

Tropical indeed Col! 18C would never be termed cold here even in the height
of summer lol.
Today it scraped to a fairly pleasant +14.3C up here. So the sun still has a
bit strength.
There have been a couple of cooler days already in September and one each in
July and August.
It was the coldest morning since 18th May mind you, with a minimum of +1.0.

..... and up here, that tad bit further north on Fair Isle, we managed
a max of 10.2°C. A bright day with plenty of sunshine, a few light
showers ('micro' CB9 with 'anvils' at c4000ft) and a fresh N'ly
breeze.
Amusing to see visitors arriving off the 'plane all wrapped up
against the cold, locals standing around in shirt-sleeves!!

Not terribly cold! Today's 16.7 was a real shock. Almost cold enough for
Trevor.

I've only ever recorded 3 September days with a max 13.7 that in the last
15 years. The coldest ever being 13.0 in 1993.

I'm hoping for nearer 20 on Sunday, as I'll be in the ocean.

If the sun is shining, it's surprising in just a low a temperature one
feels comfortable wearing a short-sleeved shirt. When I left for
work this morning it was just 5.8C and although initially rather chilly
it was pleasant enough once I got walking. If the breeze hadn't
been there I could probably tolerate even lower

I remember as a 9 or 10 year old spending a week in June on the Orkney
Isles as part of a school excursion.
My school had been twined with Dounby primary (if you know it Dave?) and
each pupil had a penpal.
Anyway, on one sunny day we all went to the beach beside Skara Brae (bay of
scale I think it's called, Karl?).
It might have been sunny, but the temperature was around 12ºC with a stiff
wind. Needless to say it was easy to distinguish between the mainlanders and
the Orcadians that day at the beach. Frostbite aside, it was a great
experience from my childhood - and where I learned to swim!
Alex.

Max of only 14.3'C here in Okehampton, warm sunshine but cool wind.
Superb visibility with Exmoor very clear in the distance.
