I think it's very unlikely that the waters around the UK could ever reach
26.5 degrees. Additionally, I thought we were always being targeted by ex tropical storms and ex hurricanes, nothing new there what-so-ever. Who the hell writes this cods wallop!!! That's a good 10 degrees above what they are at the moment. If such a change occured I think we'd have a lot more to worry about than a real hurricane hitting the UK. Additionally, I thought we were always being targeted by ex tropical storms and ex hurricanes, nothing new there what-so-ever. Yep, the "expert" doesn't seem to make the distinction between a real hurricane and ex-ones. I must make a composite of a sat pic of a hurricane, superimpose the coastline of the UK and put on some broad wind contours. Add a bit of explanatory text about the wind speeds and what is normal for the UK as a comparison. That would really put these massive storms into perspective. Who the hell writes this cods wallop!!! Donno but remind me never to believe anything that that company produces! Grabs the headlines though and 99% of the population will believe it. B-( -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |

Saw this wonderful article in Monday's Western Mail quote Despite the extreme weather in Scotland, the rest of the country had a narrow escape when Maria, which had been on course to cause severe damage to North Wales, was knocked from its path by another hurricane /quote Didn't notice that. I think it was about September 12/13 if I remember right. Just looked up the archive. 12.09 Max 20.9°C Min 11.1°C Rain 0.2mm Max Gust 14 mph. 13.09 Max 16.3°C Min 13.8°C Rain 23.2mm Max Gust 37 mph 14.09 Max 14.5°C Min 12.3°C Rain 0.4mm Max Gust 39 mph So, here, the 13th was pretty wet and wild but not really extreme and the 14th was quite windy, which we noticed in Northumberland. -- Alan White Twenty-eight miles NW of Glasgow, overlooking Loch Goil and Loch Long in Argyll, Scotland.
