Hi
Testing a web cam with a view across the Blackmoor Vale from Wincanton,
at the moment updated every minute, but it seems to be making the PC
sweat a bit.

That will be worth looking at-the beautiful Blackmoor Vale.
Tomorrow I will be driving through your area, once again, to spend a
day crawling, cursing and sweating under the Mendips.
Cheers Robin

Nice view - but larger than the average webcam (from what I've seen)
have you tried a lower resolution?

I am sure thats why the PC is coughing a bit, I will try to adjust the
resolution. Learning the software at the moment. Slowly getting there.
Many Thanks
Alan

Looks good. Date/time would be helpful when you get it sorted.

That fills a very useful gap. Thanks.

And my map spells it BLACKMOOR so you had no reason for embarrassment -
right first time!

Can you just confirm the direction it is looking? SE is it? It was
dusk when I first tried so couldn't be quite sure. I had to look at
the map for the geography.

Jack

I like decent sized images, not piddly postage stamps that you can't
see squat on. Currently it's only 34k but then it is a black frame
with some distant lights. B-)

Hum, jpg compression is fun, just looked at the webcam directory on my
site at the file sizes of the 640x480 webcam images. Night time ones
are around 35k, daylight in low 20k bytes.

This sort of file size is acceptable for dialup IMHO. It would be nice
to have the image on a proper web page though. One day I'll do
something for the full size images on my site...

Thanks Jack
The view is due South looking towards the hills before Dorchester. The
far hills are about 12 miles away
I am having to take off line for a while because of a lot of morning
reflection and a need for a better set up.
Will be back.

Alan
PS Our local freebie paper is called the Blackmore Vale, I give up!!
