Wimp!

I won't argue with you about that, Peter. Definitely a winter wimp!

Whatever is wrong with snow?

It's cold, wet, and sometimes slippery. Not my favorite stuff. It can

I checked out Altopia, Peter, but it seemed to be expensive and slow -
speeds were about one fifth of my present Usenet servers. What's been
your experience with it?

I'm only on a 0.5Mbit line, so I wouldn't know how fast it is. 6 quid
a month doesn't sound like much to me, especially as it's the only
server I've ever seen that doesn't lose posts. I never miss bits of
multipart binaries. And I never see replies to images that aren't
there. Oh and there is absolutely no censorship or restrictions on
what you can post.

I see. The downloads here go at usually from 500 to 1,000 KB/second.
Assuming that KB = kilobits, then 0.5 MB = 500 KB. I'll look at
Altopia's prices again. I occasionally miss a post, but it's rare.
Thanks for the info.

I've just checked - I bought the slowest/cheapest option they do -
256kbits/sec. This is the same as my upload speed and half my
download speed, so is plentiful for me. It always acheives exactly
the speed it says on the tin.

:-) Yes, but I like to start from room temperature. Room temperature
in my house, not yours.
