Default Clouds I thought looked interesting 1 of 4

Outside of Nashville, TN...
I still have to install my image editing software into my laptop so the
images are not cropped or made smaller... Taken with my cellphone (an
iphone) while driving...

So, anyway, what kind of clouds are these exactly?

I'm not Grumpy, but I'm not exactly in the best of moods so maybe I
can help... X^{

Looked to me like a fairly thick layer of stratocumulus opacus. From
Wikipedia:

"Stratocumulus opacus is a dark layer of clouds covering entire sky
without any break. However, the cloud sheet is not completely uniform,
so that separate cloud bases still can be seen."

http://www.clouds-online.com/cloud_a...lus_opacus.htm

The posted images showed more apparent instability than the above
link; they might have formed in a layer of unstable air trapped
between more stable layers above and below.
