The largest and the most dangerous winter storm of the season is heading
right for south central and east central Minnesota this evening. The Minnepolis airport has already picked up several inches of snow and could see well in excess of a foot by this time tomorrow evening. Heavier and steadier snow will move into extreme southern Minnesota this evening and reach the Twin Cities around day break. This could cause a very dangerous rush hour situation for the work day tomorrow. Check your local news for school and business closings. As always, a slight change in the path of this storm could mean much less snow for the forcast area and more snow for west central wisconson. Please stay tuned to the latest forcasts. Again, a winter storm warning is in effect for south central, central and east central Minnesota through the day tomorrow. Snowfall amounts in the wanring area could exceed a foot with total accumulations being from 8-16 inches across the warning area. A winter storm watch is also in effect for extreme southeastern Minnesota for the day tomorrow. There is a possibility of 5-8 inches of snow there. There is also a winter weather advisory in effect for this evening for west central Minnesota. These area will see anywhere from 3-6 inches of snow and some blowing a drifting. |
