In weather.com, when it says 60% precipitation, what does it mean? Does
it mean 60% probability of precipitation or some other meaning? thanks |

Hi,
If they say it's 60% chance of precipitation this means that if the exact same weather conditions exits for 10 days, then 6 of the 10 days it would rain. Make senese? Thanks "deviliscious" wrote in message oups.com... In weather.com, when it says 60% precipitation, what does it mean? Does it mean 60% probability of precipitation or some other meaning? thanks |

A link would have been nice as the map on the home page is for the whole of the contiguous USA and some of Canada and Mexico. I can't imagine 60% precipitation meaning anything but "chance" of it as 1 raindrop is precipitation. Even 60% of a raindrop or snowflake or whatever is still precipitation. So how much precipitation did you get? |

My first thought was 60% chance of precipitation. Then I imagined it
could have other meanings like the level or something like that. Anyway. Thanks |

You're right. A single drop of rain is precipitation.
As to your 2nd question, it hasn't happened yet because i was interested on the forecast for this saturday and sunday when i planned to go out on a picnic. thanks |

But doesn't that site have its own forum? I used to write to the Weather Channel until I lost interest in forae that would remove your posts. Is weather.com the same people? If so it does have a high standard of followers. |

I forgot to say: Have fun.
I'll tell you something, you can never plan outings like that in the UK. There is always a 60% chance of precipitation over here for that sort of time scale. |
