Default Sortable Hail/Wind/Tornado Reports With Maps Now Available

Forwarded from sci.geo.meteorology .. thought some folks might find this
useful.

I am pleased to announce the addition of sortable hail, wind and
tornado reports to the WeatherMatrix StormMatrix, which already shows
you national NEXRAD-tagged storm information.
http://www.weathermatrix.net/stormmatrix/

You can now see the SPC Hail Reports, Wind Reports and Tornado Reports
for Today and Yesterday, color coded by severity, and sort on any
column, as well as plot the location of the report on a map (click on
the lat/lon). The SPC updates this information every 10 minutes or so
throughout the day.

You can see that there were 227 Wind Reports Yesterday and sorting by
speed reveals the top reports: 95 mph in Michigan and 81 mph in Ohio.
http://www.weathermatrix.net/stormma...hp3?sort=speed

And you can see the 268 hail reports from yesterday... including FOUR
reports of 4.25". What a day!
http://www.weathermatrix.net/stormma...php3?sort=size

I would like to, in the future, be able to database all of this year's
reports, so you can pick out the largest hail report this year or the
highest wind gust in Nebraska, etc.

Complete details of the Hail & Wind reports can be found he
http://www.weathermatrix.net/archive/lsr/date.html#end

Complete details of the Tornado reports AND subsequent Storm Surveys
can be found at this Experimental URL:
http://www.weathermatrix.net/archive.../date.html#end

If you know of a Tornado or Waterspout report that was issued as a LSR
or PNS by the NWS and did not make it on to the page above, please let
me know, as this is a work in progress. At this time I am not
catching 100% of the reports and there are some false positives
slipping in.

Or you can download the SPC reports in CSV format and sort them in
Excel for yourself, straight from SPC. SPC recently added "Download
as CSV" links to all their Climo-Severe Reports pages.

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/reports/today.html
(links to prior days are there)
You can use Excel's AUTOFILTER and SORT features to slice and dice
YOUR way.
