Default Ashland, MA WX summary for July 2004

July 2004 WX Summary

Ashland, MA

Cool and wetŠ

Average temp 70F (Departure -3)
Average high 79F
Average low 62F
High 88F on July 22
One standard deviation daily high temp range 72 * 85 degrees*
One standard deviation daily low temp range 58 - 65 degrees
Low 55F on July 26
Heating degree days 4**
Cooling degree days 173
Rainfall 4.68² (170% of expected and surplus of 1.9²)

*Standard deviation is a measure of spread. Interpret the above as ³a
majority of the high temps in July fell into the range of 72 to 85 degrees²
(In a normally distributed, ala Bell Curve, dataset, about 70% of the data
should land within one standard deviation of the mean). Notice the typical
range for daily highs is nearly twice that of daily lows (13 vs 7). This is
to be expected.

**Heating degree days occurred on 3 days this month; one each on July 13 &
14 and 4 on July 28

Heh... you can say *that* again...

Poured here all night yet again... haven't kept track but we have had a
LOT of rain this past month. And several days with highs below 60.

peace,
