While waiting for my weather station to arrive, had a simple question about
the rain gauge. It is the tipping variety. The ratio varies, but generally
10 inches of snow for when gauge shows 1 inch precipitation. But, what makes
the now turn to "water" and keeps it from showing up days later?

Randy - In order for you to use the tipping bucket with frozen precip, you
will have to install a heater. I have one on my Davis that works fine.

If you are getting a Davis of some sort I know you can get one. Other
brands, you will have to check with the manufacturer.
