Your AGW house is crackling and will break to ruins within 12/2008.
Promised!

*Meanwhile the current pacific cooling - La Nina - among the shortest on
record has subsided and is now being replaced by a renewed Pacific warming -
El Nino.

* And with 20 melt days remaining, the Northern Polar ice cap around the
North Pole is now slush.

What is the status of the NW passage? *Last I heard there was still
one plug of ice between two islands still blocking it.

Wankincar is a known troll.

The NP is still intact and there are no signs of a disastrous melting..
The ice around is more like last year.

So which is it:

"no sign of disastrous melting"?

Or:

"like lasst year" when it melted and the passage was open?

You can't have it both ways even though you are accomplished at
shutting your eyes to any evidence counter to you "belief".

I think, the whole discussion is not really about the ice, it is about an
open/blocked passage.
What the heck is so important, if there is a passage or not?
That makes no sense.- Hide quoted text -

It shouldn't require and answer as it is self evident to a sane person
but...

the fact that the NW passage is (or will be) open for the second year
running makes you claims that the ice pack is secure obvious BS.

It is not "open", and it won't be, for all practical purposes,
the ice blows from one shore to the other, and it is too dangerous
to take a chance with any ships, even ice breakers, on a regular
basis.

The fact that an ice breaker or a submarine can make it
past Alert, Canada doesn't mean the NW Passage is open.

It is idiotic to think the Arctic Ocean will be completely
free of ice at any time in the future, ice 5 feet thick forms
in winter, and a good snow in the spring can help keep that
ice from melting in the summer.

Computer programs with programmed trends are lousy for
predicting the future of things like this, nature doesn't follow
man made rules.
