Lightning caused chaotic conditions in the Reigate area of Surrey as power
supplies affected level crossing gates and held up rush hour traffic. Torrential bursts of rain with 10mm recorded at obs time10.00hrs BST in Coulsdon. This makes 25mm in 48 hours so the dry conditions so prevalent this year are gradually relaxing. Ian Currie-Coulsdon www.frostedearth.com |

Ian Currie-Coulsdon www.frostedearth.com A rather frivolous use of the word, "chaos", Ian. I think the 250-500mm of rain about to be dumped on the Yucatan Peninsula with winds nearing 100KT may cause "chaos". Another event which the word could be attributed to was the Asian tsunami which I witnessed first-hand. Being an hour late into work in Reigate would have been a far more enjoyable, chaotic experience. Joe |

We don't expereience hurricanes here (yet) so a good downpour is 'exciting' Thisin no way decrys the Asian tsunami or America's hurricanes it just gets it into perspective. Regards Brian |

Potential chaos here up in Knutsford too where an area of "patchy rain" is threatening to scupper an afternoon on the bouncy castle for my nephew's 2nd birthday. And everyone knows the bouncy castle is enjoyed more by the adults. Furthermore, I didn't see the Met Office "Severe scuppered enjoyment warning" either, so I hold you personally responsible, Jon.
