Saw a flotilla of baby ducklings struggling against the flow of the Stour in Canterbury this morning. I have a suspicion that they won't make it through the winter :-/ Jonathan Canterbury |

Well Alan, we recorded a maximum of 18.3C in Coventry today - this is
the warmest November day around here since 1969; in fact only 3 November days have ever been warmer since 1892! The November maximum temperature extremes including today have been: WARMEST DAYS 20.6C 1969 1 19.4C 1938 19.1C 1946 18.3C 2005 17.8C 1960,1970 With the recent warmth in October, this really has been a remarkable period of weather. All down to southerly winds of course, and little to do with you know what! Steve Jackson Bablake Weather Station Coventry www.bablakeweather.co.uk 17.3C 1996 |

Ah right, but are those southerly winds warmer than they might otherwise be without you know what, or indeed does you know what make southerly winds more likely than they might otherwise be? If that makes sense.... Col -- Bolton, Lancashire. 160m asl. |

The southerly winds have not brought anything to here other than
temperatures that could be considered normal for early November. Maximum 11.0 yesterday and 11.4 today so perhaps a fraction above average. It was the same during October. Richard Slessor, Aberdeen. |
