Can anyone explain why my PC locks up when I try to access web links inserted into messages on the newsgroup.
No problem with normal browsing. Have tried several times today with the same result. Regards, Rob Chester, UK http://www.west-cheshire.ac.uk/weather Take cat out before emailing |

Often clears problems. -- Gareth The software said to install Win98, NT4 or better; so I installed OS X. |

What exactly do you mean by "locking up"?
Does the mouse-pointer still move? Are you able to switch between applications? Do you get any response at all when you click on various features in applications? I get many complaints from people who say something like "Whenever I click on a link, all I get is a blank browser-window with not even the URL in the address bar" If all you're getting is blank pop-up browsers with no content then the fix is to click on START...RUN.... then enter " regsvr32 urlmon.dll " and click OK This may not fix your problem but I thought it is useful to mention it anyway. Brendan Hi Brendan, It doesn't seem to happen on every link. When it does I can move the mouse but not shut down that particular post or even the newsgroup. I can access any browser windows that are open but opening other links in the browser become painfully slow. In the end I have to reboot to cure the problem. This only happens on the newsgroup links. Just tried what you said and tried another post with a link. A browser window tried to open and then Outlook Express shut down.
