Default It never got light here today (and it didn't yesterday either!)

It is now 15:33pm and it is almost dark here in High Wycombe! In fact so far
this year High Wycombe has enjoyed less than SIX hours of sunshine - as
follows:-

01/01/06-03/01/06: none!
04/01/06: 2 hours
05/01/06 - 10/01/06: 5 mins in odd brief glimpses of no more than 2 mins each
11/01/06: 3 hours
12/01/06: just 1/2 hour first thing then unbroken gloom - max. temp 3.8C (and
the first clear dawn since Dec. 15th!!)
13/01/06-14/01/06: none!

The last two days have been the darkest days I have known for a good while:
I have needed artificial light on all day for the last two days!!

And I see very little if any sunshine for this area in the 5 day outlook either
with a stationary weak front over the south-east for almost the duration. Today
it reached 7C here for the first time this year!! It won't be very mild either
with cold continental air not far away and stiff SE winds around the extremities
of the low in the NE Atlantic.

Very galling to see Edinburgh bathed in bright sunshine!

I am also keeping a very close eye on the extremely cold pool of air roaring
down over eastern Europe. It could be very interesting if the jet stream
develops a Rossby Wave-type drag in from the east. Even in 1987, the 850mB air
temp was -20C, some of this air is at -30C or colder!

Aagh! Every time I learn something new... it pushes something old out of my brain!

Tell me about it, I am starting to hibernate due to the lack of sun. IT's
tipped it down with rain for the best part of the day here in Gloomy High
Wycombe.
Interesting that you recorded 3.8C on the 12th, I recorded 4.7. Perhaps
that's because my sensor is in the rabit hutch(the rabit ran away) so I
turned it into a little weather station. .lol
Recorded a massive 8C in the last 24hrs.
Looks like we're going to be stuck with this gloom for the next couple of
weeks.
I feel sorry for all those SAD people.
