Default Cold/Mild Battle.

Complete deadlock at the moment

For several hours now around 12 degrees in eastern Ireland, -1 in Blackpool
& Liverpool. It's interesting how far west of the main precipitation band
the sharp temperature gradient is.

In West Cornwall at both St Mawgan & Culdrose the temperature, to the
nearest degree, remained unchanged from 01:00 - NOON (5 degrees at St
Mawgan, 6 at Culdrose). Here in Penzance it's been between 6 & 7 degrees
since dawn. It looks like (hopefully!) the temperature will probably rise
the far SW overnight.

Getting worried about the ants with these massive 1/4" drifts, still the
met office gave them plenty of warning!

Default Cold/Mild Battle.

Not particularly cold well east in Berkshire (at least out of the keen
SE breeze), but very low dew point: currently +2.9 C air, -5.1 C
dew-point (RH 55%). Today's max only 5.1 C after about an hour's light
snowfall this morning. As op all day, gloomy.

Yes it was most unusual for it to snow and stick on two consecutive weekends
in Blackpool, although this weekend was more impressive. Apparently it
started before midnight on Saturday. I was most surprised when I went to bed
at 0230, and looked out of the window and saw everywhere completely covered
in snow!

Went into Blackpool at 0730 on Sunday to take some pictures, as the last
time we had snow like this was 10 years ago, when it was much deeper (about
a foot!). There was quite a blizzard for a few hours, the temperature
hovering around freezing for most of the day, before it turned to rain at
1230, then stopping altogether by early afternoon. Some of the country lanes
in the area were completely blocked by drifting snow, and many remain so
this morning (Monday).
