A few of the better ones. Taken with a Canon EOS 300D. Apologies for
poor quality, we're reading up on how to do better next time.

Just a glimpse here in Comrie, not as good as last November, but here's
hoping!

Try 15secs F4 iso200 or 400 as a starting point. If you are getting good
definition from the stars then you are in the ball park. Trouble with
tonight is a bright moon. Hope this helps.

Thank you - I've passed this on to the photographer.

This has come from the baby brother to your camera.

fstop 2.8, iso 200, 5 second exposure

Mounting my camera on blu-tack on a window ledge though is beginning
not to cut it!!! Out of the 2 or so shots tonight this was the best.

Great site and thanks for including all the camera settings as I have
the same camera.

We've had a few comments that the pictures are a bit small, so these are
a bit bigger - and if you click on the pictures themselves you get
another slightly bigger one.

I don't think there is really any rule to aurora photography, set the
camera to manual exposure mode and focus on infinity - a tripod is a
must, and experiment with different exposure times, shorter ones will
freeze any movement of the aurora, longer ones will bring out fainter
features and colours but may smear any movement. DSLR cameras give the
best results as you can use higher ISO settings and not have to worry
too much about noise. And take LOTS of pictures.

Nice pics by the way, it was mostly cloudy here near Peterborough, but I
did see a faint red glow through a gap in the clouds.

You lucky people up north :-) Nothing here unfortunately in
Wolverhampton, though I did see a pink elephant ;-)
