writes This morning. Still a few days to go by the looks of it before the first one is in flower in the garden here. It's very late, especially compared to recent years. In my travels between here and North Ayrshire over the years I have noticed that the daffs have typically been 3-4 weeks later in Ayrshire than here. I should think it's fairly unusual for them to bloom in Whistlefield before they do here. Of course, it could be down to different varieties but I am no expert on that. The limit of my knowledge is that if they're yellow they must be daffodils :-) Norman. (delete "thisbit" twice to e-mail) -- Norman Lynagh Weather Consultancy Chalfont St Giles 85m a.s.l. England |

This morning.
Great isn't it, spring at last. We went for a walk yesterday along the coast down here in south east Devon, and with just 3 days of this warmer weather behind us, I noticed that the hawthorn and willow are now coming out into leaf; the race is on! Currently at 12:45, 12.8C, RH 81%, DP 9.5C, Wind 18.0 mph SSW, Rain last 24hrs 5.1 mm. _______________ Nick G Exe Valley, Devon 45 m amsl |

Spring, you're joking aren't you? Well maybe where you are!
Nope, would I joke about such a serious and far-reaching subject; I jest not....... It's bright here with the odd short, sharp shower but a tad breezy, the daffs (though many are past their best now) are coping but the cherry blossom is taking a bit of a battering. Toads, frogs and newts have appeared in the garden committing lewd acts. _______________ Nick G Exe Valley, Devon 45 m amsl |

Feels like spring here - 13.8C, the snow's nearly all gone, a new calf has appeared in the field, and the sheep look like they're about to follow suit. No daffs yet, though. -- Steve Loft, Glenlivet. 200m ASL Weather and webcam: http://www.livet.org.uk/weather |

The frogs committed their lewd acts in February here in Lancashire, then promptly got iced in for a couple of weeks, although the daffs have only just decided to put in an appearance in the last week or so. |

I'm still waiting for the lesser celandine then I'll know that it really is Spring. -- Alan White Twenty-eight miles NW of Glasgow, overlooking Lochs Long and Goil in Argyll, Scotland. ![]() Mediocre picture at http://www.windycroft.gt-britain.co.uk/270306_01.jpg The head is bowed under the weight of rain droplets.
