Steve. I cannot really see anything where this is likely to happen, brief
cold snap for the weekend but nothing more than that.

Hi Steve,

Fascinating. But where is "local", though?

Cheers,

Sounds like a case of the media being several days behind, cold weather
seemed possible according to the charts several days ago. But things have
changed quite considerably since. With much milder weather favoured now.

Sorry D, Midlands TV.
One thing I have noticed in watching the forecasts on TV is they seam to
show some reluctance to commit to anything about the cold snap. They just
seam to make flippant comments about the posiable cold snap.
I was amused with one comment , they said it was going to be get 'very' cold
and then they showed values of around 4C, now that's not 'very' cold to me.

Sorry D, Midlands TV.

:-D

Can only be good news for West Yorks, then.:-)

That's TWO media outlets now from the Midlands going cold in this
February.

Was this the BBC or ITV regional channel, by any chance, or another?

This may well be because:
1. They have now just switched to the new 1971-2000 average, which we
should have done by 2005 ANYWAY,
2. They are basing this on the appalling, ever-awful mildness of some
of our recent "winters".

Hope that helps,
D.

We may indeed. I "may" win the lottery next week, too.

I don't think many of us ever believed the "severe spell" scenario.
Such model predictions beyond two or three days out almost always
turns out to be a brief cold snap. We shall see.

BBC
I find ITV Weather and News not as good any more, IMHO, ITV news is quite
poor these days, it comes over as low budget and poorly presented.

C5.. I don't go there..

BBC Local (Midlands) were at it again, even gave the weather a bigger slot
and had Mr King from Brum Uni talking about the weather. Now its going to be
the worst cold snap for 14 years (downgraded by 6 years) and they were
happily showing clips of cars making there way through lots of snow. (For
the drama I guess)
They also pointed out that this is traditionally the coldest time of the
year to the 15th.

I have a theory, the supermarkets are not doing as well because we are all
recovering after Christmas and they need to step up demand and weather
people have been paid off to drum up business...
