The Met. Office not only holds the following addresses:

http://www.metoffice.com/

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/

http://www.metoffice.org/

http://www.metoffice.info/

....but has servers on them.
Anyone here studied the differences in what is on those servers?

I found the
http://www.metoffice.com/sec2/sec2cy...995/sep95.html
page easily navigable from one month to the next whilst the page:
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/...acks/1995.html
is a bag of **** as far as getting to the next item of data is
concerned.

I am almost sure this is a fake one. The url stays the same when you
click on links and it has a home page at:

http://uk2.net/

Which has it's home page at:

http://uk2.net/index.shtml

Is it something to do with mobile phones or something? Nothing to do
with the .net one though, it seems. It's all very fishy.

As your topic title says these are simply domain names & not necessarily
physically different servers.

With a "whois" search of the names, the first two look to be official
(using a meto.gov.uk name server). The last two are registered to
individuals; one from Bracknell & one from Exeter.
