Photographs from today - has been a superb one here in Herefordshire..
http://www.weather-pictures.co.uk/310107c_1024.jpg Taken this morning in the City of Hereford - The Moon had a superb glow for quite a wide arc with apparent irridescence .This is a single shot 300 mm lens - (St Owen st from Ledbury Road) with Town Hall spire. I had recently attended one of Jack Harrisons excellent talks where he spoke of anticyclonic curvature causing Wave -- spot on today Jack ! http://www.weather-pictures.co.uk/310107b_1024.jpg looking out over Black Mountains from Herefordshire. http://www.weather-pictures.co.uk/310107a_1024.jpg can't resist a Tree and a sunset - Tonight just outside Peterchurch. I wouldn't dream of suggesting Ian, that you misunderstood:-) Anticylonic curvature doesn't cause wave but is often an indicator that wave will occur. In simple terms, anticylonic curvature implies a stable layer at height and that is normally one of the requirements for mountain wave. Jack |
