I downloaded the Vista one today. Seems OK - quicker than going to the
web site.

Just downloaded the Firefox gadget, but unfortunately my version of FF
is too new (2.0.0.10) and the gadget is for FF versions up to 2.0.0.9 so
it refuses to install. Hopefully the Met Office will catch up as
presumably most FF users will soon be upgraded to the newer version.

Just successfully installed on an old Linux box running FF 2.0.0.8 and
it appears to work fine. It could be a very useful, er, gadget.

Without going into my BBC rant mode -a subject well covered at The
Register at the moment by the way and betimes on Grocklaw, can anyone
aver that it is not going to encrapsulate my Internets in a most
chimpanzetic way?

Same here apart from getting it to change the "my weather" location. Keep
getting b--- London whatever I select. I suspected something would go wrong
when I tried to follow the instructions and found that to be impossible.
Says to click "OK" to select the new location or "Cancel" to - er - cancel.
The only button available is "Close"!

If you click to select the desired location, then click anywhere else on
the page and then press 'enter' it does seem to work. Not exactly
intuitive though ;-)

(I now realise that the newer version of FF (2.0.0.10) on my main box is
there only because I was a beta tester years ago and still get the new
releases early. So, to be fair to the Met Office, it is reasonable that
it works only with versions up to 2.0.0.9).

Thanks, that's done the trick.

2.0.0.10 has just been made available for OpenSUSE and, when I re-started
Firefox after the update, I was asked whether I wanted the latest version
of the Met Office plug-in. So I'm now on version 1.1 of the plug-in. The
bug in "my weather" is still there.

Works fine as a detached Vista gadget, the flyout needs a 'click to
activate' to use the buttons although there is no reminder. May be
related to the MS/Eolas patent nonsense and will be fixed in the April
2008 IE update ( preview avbl Dec 2007 ).
