Default Is the sun going out?

Half-an-hour ago, I drew the curtains and put the living room light out. As
it now seems to be drawing rapidly towards night-time I think I'll have to
put the lights back on, close the curtains and just ignore what's happening
outside.

Close them Graham and draw them again an hour later and marvel at the thick
layer of snow that has just fallen - the magic of Christmas ......

Where did I put that glass of sherry? :-)

This morning reminded me of the morning of 20 July this year
when the heavens opened. It didn't seem to want to get light but this
time the rain has been fairly modest.

It has on Fair Isle - darned backup battery in my solar-powered
Vantage Pro wireless anemometer has also just died!
Even 200+% sunshine so far on Fair Isle this month that is not enough.
Mind you, with just an average December sunshine of about 17 hrs a
couple of 'sunny' days can make an enormopus percentage change.
If anyone is interested 2007 on Fair Isle approx 108% rainfall, 101%
sunshine and +0.6C, based on my 1974-2000 data.

Exactly. The maximum yesterday was only 4 C below the max on 20th July.
