Light easterly set in this morning and temperature has responded by
falling slowly. From 7.3C at 1030 to 5.7C now at 1315. And continuing to drop. A max of 9.5C at 11:00 here today, now has fallen to 6.7C at 15:43. Is there snow on the way! Hmmm, I'll believe it when I see it. Currently at 15:45, 6.7C, RH 73%, DP 2.7C, 1019.1 mb (F), Wind 4 mph SSE. ____________________ Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Temp now 4.4C at 1605 and falling slowly. Dartmoor doesn't need easterlies for snow a decent cold westerly with 850hPa temps below -3C usually does the job above 350m asl! Make the most of it if there is, looks like raging zonality will be back next week! Mind you it's about par for January these days the month has become a joke! Just looked at my data since 1989 and December has a mean of 3.6c (3.6c) while January is now up to 3.8c (2.8c). I know February now has a mean of 4.0c (2.8c) but at least we still get more snow. Since 1989, January snow falling days have been reduced to 4, which is the same amount we get in March! Average snow falling and lying days since 1989 are as follows: Jan 4 (8) 3 (7) Feb 6 (8) 4 (7) Dec 5 (6) 3 (4) All 1961-90 means in brackets.
