Hi, All,

211200Z 00000KT(anemo clogged? seems to be 36002KT by windsock) 0300
SN W/// M00/M00 Q1003

Snow depth now 11cm and rising quickly. Seems to have caught the
council snow ploughs out (although local tractors are ploughing
without spreading) road closed a couple of times in Copley village
because of buses losing traction and sliding across the road.

A bad time for the snow to fall, after 0830Z when most had set off to
work / school. They have to get home now! This includes No.1 daughter
who can hopefully stay in Darlington for the night.
Just a one day event we hope. Snow is a real nuisance in these parts
but we always have contingency plans, usually me in the Jeep!

Nothing like that up here Ken. Started just after 0700 and put a good inch
down by 0900. But only at our level drop down a couple of hundred feet and
there is no lying snow and only rain falling.

For the last few hours it's been rain or very wet sleet here. Temp is only
just above 0C. Currently something very fine blowing in the wind, might be
snow sleet or rain. It's certainly wet though.

Down near the NE coast the temperature is now just a tad above 3 degress
and rain / sleet. Horrible driech day even so.

Newcastle Airport which isn't that far away from me seems to be getting
the white stuff: EGNT 211450Z 00000KT 1500 R25/P1500 SN SCT004 BKN005

Ken, just been looking at the pictures on your website. It's such a
contrast to the SW, it's hard to believe. Still 11-12C here, even
behind this morning's cold front, which went through very quickly
indeed. Average temperature in Penzance for January so far close to
9C, which is very mild, even by Cornish standards. Absolute minimum so
far this year +2.3C on 8th, lowest max 7.9C on 2nd.

Hi Ken,

Gawd, I'm so envious Ken A different world! You doing B&B?
11.5c here today, still 10.1c when I last checked at 18z.
Mean 1-20th 6.6c, looks likely to exceed Jan 2007.
On a bright note, possibly might get 2nd airfrost of year tonight.

Ian,

Raunds, East Northants. 63m amsl. NGR SP9972.
