Default Cold in the South!

Interesting forecast on News 24 this morning. Today will be much colder with
maximum temperatures of 8C to 9C. It's ok though because tomorrow will
become much milder with temperatures of 9-10C. ;-)

Well, *we* know that 8 or 9C with a negative dew point will certainly
feel colder to anything with an evaporative surface (including humans)
than 9 or 10C with a dew point of 7 or 8C, but will the general public
appreciate that or just think the forecaster on News 24 is talking
anally?

Indeed. I doubt if they'd notice either way. I suppose there would have been
a good case to use "feel colder/milder" than emphasise the temperatures, as
he seemed to.

Well my maximum on Thursday was 10.7 deg C, it felt like... 10.7.
Solent MRSC reached 11.1.It felt much the same as the previous day
(not colder). So the "8 to 9 deg C and feeling much colder" wasn't
very close to the mark.

Let's see if today (25th) turns out to be (or feels) "much milder"
than 10.7.

And west of you at Hilton near Blandford it reached 10.2 but the cloud
cleared, a fresher airstream ensued and temperatures gradually dropped
during the afternoon. I had a match at Bryanston at 4pm (7C) and by
then it was getting nippy and by 6pm it was down to 2C.

I suspect their timings were out by a few hours therefore. I am
expecting 8 to 9 C today!

It's a bit breezier here this afternoon than yesterday afternoon and
"feels" slightly less mild but otherwise, it's much the same as
yesterday afternoon. Around or a bit over 10 deg C both afternoons
(10.2 currently). Mainly sunny and as you say, another pleasant day.
It has me thinking of the Spring already...
