1030

6.8C and rising
Feels like 4.4C
Wind picked up a wee bit SW F4 occ 5.

It feels so liberating to walk outside in dry conditions and air with humidity
below 95%, I'm enjoying it! The incessant drizzle of late is now a receeding
memory.

1120 F6 and pretty stable, there was some wave variation over night (up to
F7 a few gusts 40mph) but that seems to have died down now.

I noticed the air was surprisingly dry for a winter warm-sector airmass
- where did it originate?

I think part of it has come from northern France. Bit colder than expected up
here in Haytor.
Now +5.9C and falling at 2130.

It came from the polar regions. The polar maritime airmass that came
southwards across the UK on Thursday behind the cold front got well
south of 50 North, and so as the winds backed southwesterly during
Friday the polar origin air over Biscay and further to the southwest
began returning northeastwards across southern UK on the northern
flank of the anticyclone. Hence the still relatively low dew
points. There was no low level tropical origin air mass over southern
Britain on Friday.

Yet despite that, maxima were still over 10C!
