It was seen by me and I emailed my sister who lives in Hong Kong to see if
it was true. This is her reply:

Yup - 145mm in one hour! Airport motorway blocked/flooded for the first time
ever, taxis with water up to the window level, two people killed when a
roadside wall collapsed on their (illegal) house/hut/shelter in the New
Territories.

That is some rainfall, even in a 12 hour period that would be extreme in the

My son and grandson left Hong Kong at 00.05 hours June 5, well before the
ordeal started.
