Having just heard that 'up to 2 inches of rain is expected' (Radio
Solent) it is dry outside ( for a while before the cold front) and have recorded a modest 7.9mm. Nothing terribly severe. R |

R Only 4.4mm in WDorset, but it has just started raining quite heavily again. Currently 14.6mm/hr. Hugh -- Hugh Newbury www.evershot-weather.org |

It's been wild 'n' windy here for most of the night.
Wind has been gusting to 40 mph for the last few hours and 17.0 mm of rain has fallen since midnight. The garden is now a disaster area and the silver maple tree has been part-defoliated for the third time this year. What a bizarre weather year we've had so far. (09:05), 15.1°C, RH 95%, DP 14.3°C, 998.4 hPa (F), Wind 22 mph SSE. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

The added bonus, with no traffic, is that when it is windy on the treeline, it sounds like I am next to the sea. It is only a North or a SE that runs up/down the valley. At work across the valley it is very different and a far more exposed site - gusts on the VP are sometimes 60% higher. The main entrance acts as a funnel and the gusts are famously high. The latest sat image shows a marked back edge not far away - an hour maybe -and I don't think the current total of 9.4mm is going to go up much more. However there is an additional swarm of showers later I think. R |

Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amslhttp://www.ottervalley.co.uk Not been too windy in the far SW, only a force 4-5 earlier, peaked at 6-7 at Sevenstones. Currently it's only Force 2 -3 and the suns out. There'll be surfers rushing to Sennen before the wind picks up again. (Currently (09:15) looks quite tempting almost calm, clean wave, sunshine - www.chapelidne.com/php/surf_report.php , I'm sure it'll very soon change. ) I suspect we'll get our strongest winds as the low moves away and the NWesterly funnels around Land's End. PPN has been mainly moderate, isol heavy, since early hours, and just now (~0905Z) we had another short burst of heavy rain. Eased considerably now, and sky is lightening somewhat from the windward: nothing dramatic as regards the roads etc. The drains seem to have coped!
