Default Rain in SE

Quite persistent rain for a change in the SE today, looking at the
radar I think it's more over Essex than Kent. 2.6mm so far.

At last Keith! Though totals are unlikely to provide much soil water
and the rainfall will probably evaporate as the weather becomes drier
later in the week I doubt whether your lawns will green up yet!

Very windy combined with the dryness in South Devon. Dessicating
weather. Good for getting the washing dry though.

Drenchingly wet in the City, some enormous puddles developing,
possibly Magnitude VII on the Puddle Intensity scale.

We would have been getting quite excited had it been January.

Yes, a bit of a rubbish high this one - we only got 3 good (10th,11th,
12th) and one goodish (14th) days out of it - no better than August
was here. Incidentally is there a good method of figuring out whether
highs end up being completely ineffectual against fronts? This is not
the first time it happens, the last Saturday in Sep 2004, and the last
Wednesday in May this year are others.

It says something about the climate of the SE when 3mm of rain is
enough to get a thread going!

It's been the sunniest high for 3 months here. Wednesday-Sunday 5
lovely days with prolonged sunshine, virtually unbroken Thursday,
Saturday & Sunday. Never particularly windy, temperature peaking at
22.4C on Sunday when there was hardly a breath of wind.
www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/recent.html .

Much cooler & cloudier yesterday, but back to good sunny spells today,
though still with a blustery rather cool NNE wind (Force 4 generally -
but gusty). Wind forecast to drop a little & veer more towards ENE
tomorrow, which should make it warmer again down here. It looks like
pressure will remain high towards the SW for some time yet, with the
odd little hiccup.

All makes a nice change from the 227.9mm I recorded in July!

Hi, Graham,

You have to smile don't you, I need a foot of snow, a -10C, a gale
(proper one) or 80mm rain in a couple of hours to get any replies!
We've had some cracking days out of the high even though we face the
NE'lies. Just an off day yesterday, but this is the NE Pennines and we
take the weather as it comes which is often sideways.
