Warm & 'gentle' weather: perfect. Just been out in the garden with the crossword. Still quite warm and still, but the wind has changed to S/SW bringing high cloud. Just been out in the garden with the crossword. Still quite warm and still, but the wind has changed to S/SW bringing high cloud. .... a marked change about an hour ago here (~1330Z / 2.30 pm BST), when Cu developed and became quite well developed vertically, though it's now tended to merge into the high-base SC and some AC. Looks as if we could squeeze some rain from them perhaps ... but as Jon might point out ... " it's all in the TAF " :-) TAF EGHH 191108Z 1912/1921 02005KT 9999 SCT045 PROB30 TEMPO 1912/1917 8000 -SHRA= -- Martin Rowley West Moors, East Dorset (UK): 17m (56ft) amsl Lat: 50.82N Long: 01.88W NGR: SU 082 023 |

But there was one thunderstorm not far away, Martin, between Portsmouth and
Midhurst, about 1630z. http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&ja...soort=satradar -- Bernard Burton Wokingham, Berkshire, UK. Kent! While on a hike with a 20-strong walking group around a depleted Bough Beech Reservoir (about 7 miles to the west of Tonbridge), an ill-defined Cb cloud could be discerned right infront of the lowering sun to the WSW, causing a thick orange lining to the anvil. This would have been around 1800 local time. Noticeable how parched that region looks, in contrast to the still verdant fields here in the Romsey area of Hampshire. My lawn needs another trim. For the 'growing seasons' of spring+summer (and including September so far), the %age of LTA rainfall (using Hurn data) is around 85% of 1971-2000 values; nothing dramatic, though if you remove the double-average PPN month of July, then that figure would drop of course.
