Dave exactly, I really don't think some people understand how special this
very cold spell is going to be.
Many places in the UK will be experiencing day maxes below zero for several
days running.

I take it Alex you don't really care for the majority. What's so wrong with
people primarily being concerned about their own neck of the woods? The
snow is no good to me up in Scotland is it?

week if the earlier EC meteograms were anything to go by.

The 12Z ENS data from EC showed considerable spread after day 8 in terms of
850hPa temperatures with the operational run towards the upper reaches of
the plume. This is a significant change from previous ensemble output which
strongly favoured a continuation of the cold/very cold theme out to day 10,
as did the previous operational runs. I'd treat it with caution at this
stage.
