A good day for cross channel swimmers I think!

A SST of 19C off the Kent coast. This must be *way* above
average, even for this time of year.

Anyone know what the highest SST ever recorded in British
waters was?

I would imagine, warmer waters will lead to a wetter autumn, as a guess.

Hi, Keith

Something similar is stated at the KNMI-ste, talking about high SST. In the
summer of 1995 the SST of the North Sea was very high resulting in heavy
showers during atumn, particularly in the Dutch coastal area's.

Maybe this also explains the heavy rain in NE Spain, Southern France and
Southern Italy; as the SST of the Mediterranean is extremely high.

I wonder what correlation there is between hot summers and wet autumns.
We all know autumn 1976 was very wet but what about other autumns
following hot summers?
